About
Mossling Press began when we noticed a gap on a shelf. High-contrast picture books for babies existed. Bilingual books for children existed. Almost nothing we could find did both — and none available in Hakka or Taiwanese.
So the imprint sets out to close that gap. Our playful books are drawn lovingly by illustrators and printed in the languages bilingual and multilingual families speak at home — including English, Mandarin, Hakka, and Taiwanese – the latter two grow quieter with each generation and are rarely printed for children at all. Featuring two collectible series that grow with your family.

What ages are these books for?
The High Contrast Series is drawn for a newborn’s vision, when the world is still blurry and bold contrast is what a baby can actually see. But each title also doubles as a first vocabulary book — the four-language labels work for anyone meeting these words for the first time, so an older child or a parent relearning a heritage language gets just as much from it. It’s the kind of book a family returns to as they grow.
How did you approach the Hakka and Taiwanese translations?
Readings are checked against the Taiwan Ministry of Education dictionaries, with native-speaker input on selected words — because Hakka and Taiwanese vary by region and family, and these books are meant to feel like home.
Why isn’t there more Hakka or Taiwanese material for kids already?
Both languages are spoken by millions, but they grow quieter with each generation and are rarely published for young children at all. That gap is the reason Mossling Press exists.
What formats are available?
Every title comes as a paperback, a hardcover, and an ebook. The three titles in each set are also available bound together in a single keepsake hardcover (coming soon).
Can libraries and schools order these?
Yes — through OverDrive for ebooks and Ingram for print. Both are standard library-wholesale channels, so no special account is needed on your end.
